@Vanessa–Thank you. I think that is the key component lacking for so many artists who try to break into Hollywood–you get criticism and, rather than figure out how to apply it within their own style, they start to change their style. BIG NO NO. They are who they are. Whatever criticism they apply must be shaped to fit their own artistic being or they will lose their authenticity. Thank you so much for your comment.

Wow…I totally agree with the 3 truths that u mentioned in your blog..Also I agree with what u said about an artist attempting to conform to anyone’s idea beside his own usually kills his art…That rang so TRUE for me…Thanks for the insight T.R. Locke

@J-Dan: A much better known song that was clearly done in new style. If he wants to really make the judges go nuts, he should be redoing throwback hits in his style. But yes, much better last night.

This is insightful. I wondered what they meant when they would say they didn’t get it, but it’s true that the singers who have their own style do the best even after the show. Great article.
